In-Person Lessons in Manchester, MI

Not just in-person, but In-Presence.

A compassionate space for children, teens, and adults to build trust, confidence, and artist skill.  To make music that speaks from within.

What You Can Expect

At Violinwise, in-person lessons are about more than technique.

They are about being seen.

Held in presence, anchored in trust, and guided with care.

These lessons offer a grounded space for students of all ages to grow musically and personally.

Whether you're a curious beginner, a returning player, or a committed young musician, I'll meet you where you are - and help you grow from there.

Valissa draws from decades of experience as a performer and teacher, blending precision with soul, structure with creativity.  Her in-person students benefit not only from her technical insight, but from the steady, encouraging presence she brings to every interaction.

Lessons are held in her expansive home studio just outside Manchester, MI, an easy drive from Ann Arbor and surrounding areas, with occasional offerings at select partner locations.

Have questions?

What makes Violinwise different from other studios?

Violinwise is rooted in both technical excellence and soul-level presence.  It's not about fast results or performance pressure - it's about trust, sound, and a more human pace of learning.  Here, students learn to play beautifully and to listen deeply - to themselves, their sound, and the music they love.

What ages do you teach?

I work with children, teens, and adults.  Violinwise welcomes both beginners and very experienced players - and honors each stage of the journey.

How often are lessons?

Most students take weekly lessons, but I also offer biweekly or flexible scheduling depending on goals and availability.

Do I ( or my child) need to be able to read music already?

Not at all.  Music reading is an important part of learning the violin, and it's something we will develop together over time.  I tailor this process to each student's age, background, and pace.

Do I (or my child) need a violin before the first lesson?

It helps, but it's not required for an intro session.  I'm happy to offer guidance on choosing or renting an instrument that fits well - physically, musically and financially.

Do you offer trial lessons?

Yes.  New students are welcome to begin with a 45-60 minute lesson to get a feel for the space and approach.  While I don't offer free trial lessons, this initial session is a rich, personalized experience designed to support clear next steps.  My time is devoted fully to the student from the start.
